ATUG congratulates the following organisations on reaching the shortlist for the ATUG’s 3rd Annual Awards for the Effective Use Of Broadband. As Australia heads into the National Broadband Network, the shortlisted entries point to the power of true broadband. ELK Software Group for their eNewsletters Online application which is of great relevance to small business. The Department of Environment and Conservation Western Australia Pollution Response Unit for their co-ordination between emergency services and its management of video and online records. Livewire.org.au for their broadband service that connects young people with serious and chronic illness with their peers. Loddon Mallee Health Alliance for its Connecting Clients 2 Care (CC2C) Project for its empowering of patients and the clear savings it provides to patients. Loddon Mallee Health Alliance for their Virtual Trauma Critical Care Unit (ViTCCU), which optimises resources and allows for more immediate and efficient patient care. The New South Wales Department of Education and Training for their provision of broadband that connects 1000 classrooms to videoconferencing and interactive whiteboard services. Pacnet for their Task Retail Point of Sale Solution, connecting franchisees easily and reliably. Tasmanet for their Huon Valley project, allowing residents and businesses access to opportunities such as VoIP, SaaS and reliable services. The Tasmanian Broadband Development Program for their support and facilitation of council based development of Broadband in Tasmania. The STARS Satellite Network for their satellite network in the Northern Territory, connecting 50 schools, 25 health clinics and 160 distance education students to broadband. The Sunshine Coast Regional Council for its Connecting The Coast project, bringing Broadband to many potential business and residential users VidCo for their Health Videophone Service which provides patients with an innovative videophone exchange enabling medical professional to care for their patients remotely. The awards will be presented to the winners at ATUG’s Gala Networking Evening on the 12th of March at the Australian Technology Park by the Minister, Stephen Conroy.
