The Digital Regions Initiative is a key element of the Australian Government's initial response to the Regional Telecommunications Review.
The four year $60 million Australian Government initiative will co-fund innovative digital enablement projects with state, territory and local governments. It is a collaborative approach to improve the delivery of education, health and emergency services in regional, rural and remote communities.

The New South Wales
Department of Commerce, through the Government Chief Information Office,
plans and manages the Government Broadband Network. The aggregation
of government requirements continues to drive the development of competitive
broadband infrastructure across the State, reducing costs and providing
access to communities which previously could not receive commercially
viable services.

The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman is a free and independent alternative dispute resolution scheme for small business and residential consumers in Australia who have a complaint about their telephone or Internet service.
Established in 1993 under a Federal Act of Parliament, the TIO is independent of industry, the government and consumer organisations.
The TIO is authorised to investigate complaints about the provision or supply of telephone or Internet services.
